Lucy’s Chantress magic will make her the most powerful—and most
hunted—girl in England.
“Sing, and the darkness will find you.” This warning has haunted
fifteen-year-old Lucy ever since she was eight and shipwrecked on a lonely
island. Lucy’s guardian, Norrie, has lots of rules, but the most important is
that Lucy must never sing. Not ever. Now it is 1667, Lucy is fifteen, and on All
Hallows’ Eve, Lucy hears a tantalizing melody on the wind. She can’t help but
sing—and she is swept into darkness.
When she awakes in England, Lucy hears powerful men discussing
Chantresses—women who can sing magic into the world. They are hunting her, but
she escapes and finds sanctuary with the Invisible College, an organization
plotting to overthrow the nefarious Lord Protector. The only person powerful
enough to bring about his downfall is a Chantress. And Lucy is the last one in
England.
Lucy struggles to master the song-spells and harness her power, but the Lord
Protector is moving quickly. And her feelings for Nat, an Invisible College
apprentice and scientist who deeply distrusts her magic, only add to her
confusion…
Time is running out, and the fate of England hangs in the balance in this
entrancing novel that is atmospheric and lyrical, dangerous and
romantic.

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: x-large;">Review:
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;">Source: e-ARC for review from publisher through Edelweiss.
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;">
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">For starters, I'll say that this book has very little romance. I like a little romance, and if a book doesn't have any...I'll pass. This book? It had a shadow of puppy love. You might like that, but I'd have liked more. I did enjoy and savor what I got though. :)
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">This was a quick, exciting read. The majority of the ending I could guess by just reading the blurb, but knowing how the book ends and being a part of the journey are two very different things.
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I loved Nat, had a love-hate relationship with Lucy, and really didn't find myself loving the rest of the Invisible College. I didn't get any two-dimensional feelings from these characters, but that could have been because I was so distracted with Lucy's ignorance most of the time. I did end up caring if they lived or died, and I did understand Lucy.
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I loved the setting. Loved. It.
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">For me, the book was enjoyable. While I've never said this before, I think it just rings true here: I feel like this would have been better in 3rd person P.O.V.. I mean, the story itself was amazing, and the world-building was perfect.. but I feel like this story would have been better without all of Lucy's idiotic thoughts. Or, at the very least, it could have been half Nat's P.O.V. and half Lucy's, but I guess it's whatever came to Ms.Greenfield, right?
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">And I really have been looking forward to a book about a Siren or Enchantress, and this didn't let me down. It just didn't BLOW MY MIND. I'm glad I read it, and I'll for sure pick up Ms.Greenfields' next book. I'd say give it a shot, but be ready for a teenager, as being a rebel and know-it-all just comes with the package. And that's coming from a teen, herself. ;)
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Oh, and that cover just became a drug. My drug. *stares longingly*
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">It’s the thing you almost tell your best friend, but bite
the tip of your tongue so it doesn’t get out.
Or what you whisper in the dark of night, only to wake up the next
morning, cringing at the memory.

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">You don’t have to tell the world the actual, true,
word-for-word story about the time your first boyfriend caught you sniffing the
contents of his gym bag. But in the
story you do tell, you should find a way to make this confession. Maybe your story is a space opera, and by
2095 gym socks have been outmoded, and there are no odors in space. But one of your characters should burn with
a weird impulsive, the euphoria of forbidden success, and the horror of being
caught. All of which you’ve got

It’s work, work, work. Then, Zing! If it’s a good read, there is always that
piece that jumps off the page, alive and throbbing. It’s the moment when characters make a choice I didn’t see
coming, but it’s perfectly them somehow.
It makes me laugh, or cry, or throw the book across the room. As readers, we recognize how exquisite those

THEIR GOAL IS SIMPLE: TOTAL DOMINATION.
With six arms and jaws that can snap a man in two, the warmongering race of aliens known as the Thule has conquered every planet they’ve attacked.
And now their invasion of Earth has begun.
Humanity’s only hope springs from a mysterious Thule legend about a Betrayer, who they believe will rise up and destroy their people. The American government tried to manufacture their own Betrayer by injecting children with Thule blood but time after time the experiment failed . . . until Colt McAlister.
A decade later, Colt is a 16-year-old cadet at the CHAOS Military Academy where he’s training to defend mankind. But he’s afraid that the alien blood may be turning him into a Thule—and he’s beginning to suspect that fulfilling his role as the Betrayer may cost him everything.
Experience a cosmic battle filled with high-tech gear, gateways to other planets, and ultimate stakes. Not everyone will survive. But heroes will rise up and step into their destiny in this earth-shaking conclusion to the C.H.A.O.S trilogy.
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;">I still remember the day I saw Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope in the theatres. I was 5 and my brother, Joshua, was 2. He got sick so we were late and I missed the opening credits. I was heart broken, but it didn’t take me long to get over it. When I saw Darth Vader flanked by Stormtroopers boarding Princess Leah’s ship, I was hooked. George Lucas showed an entire generation that whatever you dream could come true.

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;">I spent all my allowance on collectible Star Wars cards and action figures, and if a company like Wonder Bread ran a Star Wars promotion, I begged my mom to buy it. I had Star Wars sheets and was Darth Vader for Halloween. I even had Darth Vader Underoos (<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;">http://theswca.com/images-misc/underoos-esb-darthvader-thermal.jpg<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;">).

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;">But Star Wars wasn’t the only story to fuel my imagination. I was small growing up and I came from a small town where people didn’t expect a lot from me. But I had big dreams. Like King David. I spent quite a few summers with my Nana in Austin, Minnesota, and everyday she’d make me lunch and then read me a story. I had three that I liked: Pinocchio, Sampson, and David vs. Goliath, but David was my favorite. There was something about the way he relied on God to accomplish something amazing that resonated with me.

Review:
This was a quick light-hearted read.

I was expecting this book to be really predictable, but it took me a little time to figure out who I thought it was, and even then I was only partially right.

Negatives: I really didn't like that Em's father didn't trust her to tell the truth. She kept saying she wasn't the thief, but he refused to be believe her and her friend because someone else said she had planned it all along. The whole town seemed to think it was her at first, and I just didn't find it to be believable. And I, personally, wouldn't have really cared that much if they didn't believe me, but Emily acted like it was the end of the world. <strike>Can you say D-R-A-M-A?</strike> I felt like Emily was immature, even for a thirteen year old. She also cried a lot, and honestly.. I didn't like her as a main character. I normally hate third-person POVs, but it was needed with this book for sure.

Positives: I really liked the animals in the story. They were a huge part of the story, and they were treated and respected as they should be. I also like that this book is appropriate for all ages, unlike some books that are labeled for kids.. and, you know...really, uhm, shouldn't be.

Overall this was a really fun story for all ages. BUT be warned: the characters are terribly immature and whiny. Even after all of that, this was an easy breezy and overall fun read.

When Brynne left Alaska, she promised herself she would never go back.

The day after graduation, she got in her beat-up Honda Civic and drove down the west coast to pursue her dream of becoming a Hollywood makeup artist. Growing up in a rural fishing village with dirty, rundown buildings, and dirty, rundown men, she longed for the glitz and glamour of the silver screen. She had no qualms about leaving behind her dysfunctional family and her nowhere-job at her mother's fishing tackle shop. She didn't even think twice about leaving behind the cute boy who came in to buy gear almost every day, shamelessly flirting with her and always leaving a generous tip. Well, maybe she thought about it twice; but she knew that a relationship with Callder Murphy would only be bound to lead her deeper into nowhere. She was sick and tired of being nowhere—and no one.

Brynne set out, determined to prove to the world that she was much more than just a fisherman’s daughter. Unfortunately, her luck and tip money ran out in Seattle when her car broke down. Exhausted from the stress of travel, she decided to take a waitressing job in the city for the time being. “For the time being” ended up being far longer than she would have liked. That was four years ago. Now, a call from home has alerted Brynne to some bad news. She needs to get back to Soldotna promptly, but she has been living paycheck to paycheck and can’t even afford a plane ticket home. Enter a ghost from her past as her knight in shining armor. Unexpectedly showing up outside her restaurant in a red Ferrari, Callder is determined to take her home with him, and keep her there for good.

* * *

Perpetually drunken playboy, Callder Murphy, is currently loaded. Of course, that’s only because he stole his big brother’s credit card. He was off in Vegas, doing what he does best (absolutely nothing) when he received the call from home. A name he hasn’t heard in years pulls him out of his mindless haze of stumbling from one wild party to the next: Brynne Ambrose needs his help. Pleasant memories of the rude, tomboyish, and completely adorable girl-next-door come rushing back to him with a vengeance. He drops all of his shenanigans and cleans up his act instantaneously. He uses his brother’s credit card to buy an impressive car, and sets out to win over the girl of his dreams. He knows he’s no good for her, but he can’t stay away.

Callder has been waiting his whole life for the opportunity to be her man, and he’s not going to let her slip away again.

Nadia Scrieva lives in Toronto, Canada with no husband, no kids, and no pets. She does own a very attractive houseplant which she occasionally remembers to water between her all-consuming writing marathons. Nadia has a degree in English and Anthropology from the University of Toronto. She likes knives. Her writing always features powerful females and (mostly) honorable male characters. "Ms. Scrieva is clearly a very talented writer with a natural gift for weaving beautiful, sometimes lyrical prose that kept me entranced for hours." - Stacy Decker, Goodreads reviewer

At the time of his premature death, Wesley Lohmann discovers he belongs to this select group.Wes' transition plunges him into the center of a struggle between those who seek to coexist peacefully with humans and those who wish to use and rule them, a struggle that carries over into the treacherous world of dreams. The delicate balance human and post-human societies have maintained for millennia is threatened by a recent scientific discovery that offers Mortui the hope of returning to human life, and human sensation, but at a terrible cost. As he struggles with new and past relationships and tries to find meaning for his continued existence, Wes discovers within himself the true meaning of being alive.

AfterLife transcends the typical zombie or vampire genre and audience to present a plausible explanation of where such stories come from in an unsettling but believable way. Even those who usually shy away from this type of science fiction are falling prey to the “what if”question that makes this book so unique and is attracting readers who typically enjoy other types of fiction.

First, here is information on her books from the series Going to the Dogs:

<span style="font-family: Times, "Times New Roman", serif;">
(Going to the Dogs #1:) Leashed: Est. page #: 79

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">First book in the Going to the Dog series and is a short novella at 26,000 words.
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Jack has some ‘splainin’ to do!
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">That's right! Callie Lassiter's normally well-behaved Great Dane Jack has run off and done the wild thing with the neighbor's dog. It must be puppy love! It's doubly embarrassing since she's a professional dog trainer. Of course, the neighbor would have to be hot, hot nightclub owner bad boy Owen McKay, just the kind of man Callie is determined to avoid.
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Owen’s comfortable with his playboy status and the hype in the media. But the ground moves beneath his feet when he gets an eyeful of the girl next door. The Dog Whisperer never looked this good! How can he convince this wholesome honey that his player days are behind him? Maybe Jill, his Great Dane can help him with this dilemma now that she’s pregnant and Callie’s dog is to blame.
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Is this bad boy a bad bet?
(Going to the Dogs #2:) Groomed For Murder:

<span id="freeText12373042250181950844" style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Can a dog have a bad hair day?

Brooke Palmer owns Pawlish, an exclusive doggie spa and grooming business in upper Manhattan, but when a client’s champion poodle gets a bad poodle cut and has to undergo therapy to recover, the client sues. The lawyer they send is drop dead gorgeous, but Brooke won't be wooed by a corporate shark in a sharp suit.

Corporate lawyer Drew Hudson has better things to do then take on this ridiculous lawsuit, but since he works for the client’s husband, he has no choice. After meeting the beautiful, sweet-tempered owner, he can’t keep his mind on the silly case. But when the client turns up dog gone dead, Brooke may be a conflict of interest when she’s charged with the murder. All Drew wants to do is prove that this sexy entrepreneur is not dangerous, except to his heart.

Can she take a chance on him?
But they, as romance heroes, rise above that past, let go of their fears (yes, they have them), and give themselves over to what had once been confusing and out of their reach. Love. Instead of flaws, let’s talk about the opposite. Virtues.

Case in point, Captain Jack Sparrow. Not only does he fluster the ladies, but he runs rings around the men. Michael Weston of Burn Notice fame. Captain Mal Reynolds of Firefly isn’t just street smart, he’s freaking universe smart. He hangs up his turbo boosters to go legit until his little brother gets himself into a bad situation that requires the expertise of his bad boy brother. James Bond takes street smarts all the way to savvy. In his world, one wrong move and he’s dead.

Jason Bourne can take on many, many attackers, but it’s his finely tuned sense of danger that makes him a formidable opponent. Robert Downey Jr’s Sherlock Holmes is a much more physical version of the famous detective, but no less intriguing and definitely sexier. This sleuth relies on many cues to come to his conclusions as well as relying heavily on his heightened sense of deduction. Then there’s Aragorn. He instinctively knows he has to go into that cave that no person in their right mind would ever enter. He is so trusted that both of his comrades go in there with him. Insane bravery.

Indiana Jones provides that with his bad boy archaeologist. He is even recognizable in silhouette with his trademark fedora. And, what woman doesn’t swoon over a man who can use a…whip. Gabriel Van Helsing hunts vampires and other things that go bump in the night. He has a cool hat, too, that makes him as sexy as Indiana Jones. He also knows how to rock the stubble and beneath that oh-so-sexy duster are muscles, lots of ‘em. This bad boy hero is all about the gadgets. No. No. It’s not Inspector Gadget. It’s Batman or his mild mannered counterpart Bruce Wayne. Of course there is always a soft spot in our female hearts for a billionaire bad boy, but it goes up a notch when he wears body-hugging latex that molds over…well…everything ladies. Yeah, imagination is over-rated. Okay, get those eyes up.

(Going to the Dogs #1:) Leashed: Est. page #: 79

First book in the Going to the Dog series and is a short novella at 26,000 words.

Jack has some ‘splainin’ to do!

That's right!

Owen’s comfortable with his playboy status and the hype in the media.

Is this bad boy a bad bet?
(Going to the Dogs #2:) Groomed For Murder:

Can a dog have a bad hair day?

Since then, he’s drifted from one school day to the next, annoyed by the looks of suspicion. When a vampire attack claimed his mother and forced his first shift into animal form, Luca set out for Texas, vengeance bound, only to discover so much more when Aimee crossed his path.

Flesh-born of vampire parents sixteen years ago, Aimee shouldn’t exist. Magic, though, made dreams come true for an undead couple desperate for a child all their own. But this magic came with a price, a cost Aimee discovered after one forbidden bite.
Every thousand years the Vampire Queen selects a new body, always the fairest in the land, and this time she's chosen Snow White.

Snow isn't an ordinary girl. She doesn't know that yet.

When Snow gets bitten by a Hunter, her life is thrown into a whirlwind of change where instead of worrying about what to eat, she has to fight not to drink the blood of fellow high school students. She becomes a revenant - not quite human, not quite vampire.

With the help of an eccentric old Professor, his seven adoptive sons, and her best friend, Snow learns to control her blood craving. Sort of. She drinks a bloodlust tea, but she'd rather drink from her Hunter.

Or, a human.

She also discovers a whole other realm, one filled with fairies, dragons, and magic. And not only does the Vampire Queen want her, but there's a pendant called the Seal of Gabriel created for Snow by the Vampire Queen's twin sister. And Snow's supposed to use it to restore balance to all magical creatures. Including vampires.

I JUST got an e-ARC of The Murmurings and it's great so far! :) I'm really excited for Poison, Unremembered, and Going Vintage. I also really like Christopher Pike, but I'm not SUPER excited for his new release, 'cause I'm not that far in the series yet. I can't wait to hear what people think about it though!
Forgive me if I missed your most anticipated March novel (or short story)! Also, some of these may have already been released, and are being reprinted or printed in a different format.

Favorite cover out of those above... it's a tie so I'm choosing two...

Almost all the covers are beautiful, but these two... yeah.
I haven't read any books by Leah Clifford, and A Touch Menacing is not the first in the series... so I am not really EXCITED. But, I might read them just for the eerily beautiful covers. As for Rachel Vincent, I've read part of My Soul To Take and loved it.. but, see.. this curse I have.. I always read the last page first... so I found out what happened and stopped reading. I really should pick up book two, huh? ;) Seriously, I NEED TO BREAK MY CURSE. Or maybe it's a gift: no anxiosness or heart-breaking anticipation (which I can't STAND). But... I'm callin' it a curse. Yep. And that's just another reason I should force more e-books on myself. Plus, why should trees die? Just so I can smell the pages (ohhhh the smell of a fresh book...)? That's selfish, right? RIGHT! So I will try. Try I shall. MARISSA WILL TRY.

So.. yeah. How'd I get so off topic? ANYWAY... what's your most anticipated new March release? Hmmm? Marissa wants to know. *Creepy screechy voice(like an evil witch)* Yes, *rubs hands together, widens eyes, and slowly tilts head* YES SHE DOES, MY CHILD. :P

Owen’s comfortable with his playboy status and the hype in the media.

Is this bad boy a bad bet?
After meeting the beautiful, sweet-tempered owner, he can’t keep his mind on the silly case. But when the client turns up dog gone dead, Brooke may be a conflict of interest when she’s charged with the murder. All Drew wants to do is prove that this sexy entrepreneur is not dangerous, except to his heart.

Can she take a chance on him?
And it got me thinking. I mean, I don't read a book just because it's a bestseller. But, I have been known to read a book that everyone is talking about. I do this because I want to be able to throw my own opinion in the mix, and I see no problem with that.
Now, that doesn't mean I go looking for the popular books, I just see them through blogs I follow sometimes. And sometimes their reviews make me want it more. Or maybe they posted an excerpt I liked. Or both. Sometimes I'll even buy a book based on an author interview, if it seems like the author is fun- the book will be too, right? Not always, but still.
Which makes me think of that saying: "Don't judge a book by its cover". But I do. All the time. If a book doesn't have a cover that appeals to me, nine times out of ten: I'll pass it up. Which isn't always right, but that doesn't stop me. I judge, we all do. If a book has a beautiful cover: I WILL GET IT.
Seriously, if I didn't do that.. I'd have, like, 20 books.
Now, do I READ all of the books I get? Well, let's be honest here. My eyes are bigger than my stomach. I have QUITE the TBR pile. But that means that if I ever have time to read a random book off the shelves, I'll have variety. RIGHT? ;)
Another thing, I listen to music when I read. Why? Because, it blocks out any ringing phones and/or screams. Also, when reading a book: I fully expect to be teleported to another dimension. Can't do that if I hear something loud and disturbing. AND, music also helps when I start hating on the characters. I mean, how can you feel hate when you hear Fall Out Boy or Sara Bareilles (I'm listening to her as I type this, and when I clicked the music icon on my phone, Fall Out Boy began to sing "Tiffany Blews") singing with their gorgeous voices? You can't, RIGHT?!

What do you think? Any objections? :) Thanks for visiting!
Summary (and picture) from Goodreads:
Imagine a place where the dead rest on shelves like books.

Each body has a story to tell, a life seen in pictures that only Librarians can read. The dead are called Histories, and the vast realm in which they rest is the Archive.

Da first brought Mackenzie Bishop here four years ago, when she was twelve years old, frightened but determined to prove herself. Now Da is dead, and Mac has grown into what he once was, a ruthless Keeper, tasked with stopping often—violent Histories from waking up and getting out. Because of her job, she lies to the people she loves, and she knows fear for what it is: a useful tool for staying alive.

Being a Keeper isn’t just dangerous—it’s a constant reminder of those Mac has lost. Da’s death was hard enough, but now her little brother is gone too. Mac starts to wonder about the boundary between living and dying, sleeping and waking. In the Archive, the dead must never be disturbed. And yet, someone is deliberately altering Histories, erasing essential chapters. Unless Mac can piece together what remains, the Archive itself might crumble and fall.

In this haunting, richly imagined novel, Victoria Schwab reveals the thin lines between past and present, love and pain, trust and deceit, unbearable loss and hard-won redemption.
Summary:
Imagine a place where the dead rest on shelves like books. Each body has a story to tell, a life seen in pictures that only Librarians can read. The dead are called Histories, and the vast realm in which they rest is the Archive.
Last summer, Mackenzie Bishop, a Keeper tasked with stopping violent Histories from escaping the Archive, almost lost her life to one. Now, as she starts her junior year at Hyde School, she's struggling to get her life back. But moving on isn't easy -- not when her dreams are haunted by what happened. She knows the past is past, knows it cannot hurt her, but it feels so real, and when her nightmares begin to creep into her waking hours, she starts to wonder if she's really safe. Meanwhile, people are vanishing without a trace, and the only thing they seem to have in common is Mackenzie. She's sure the Archive knows more than they are letting on, but before she can prove it, she becomes the prime suspect. And unless Mac can track down the real culprit, she'll lose everything, not only her role as Keeper, but her memories, and even her life. Can Mackenzie untangle the mystery before she herself unravels?
With stunning prose and a captivating mixture of action, romance, and horror, The Unbound delves into a richly imagined world where no choice is easy and love and loss feel like two sides of the same coin.
